Prepare your lawn for heat and fairly low humidity for next 10 days! By Sunday, June 16th 2024, we will reach 96 degrees with humidity below 70%. Please look at ET rate in yellow on the enclosed photo. Average ET, which basically means how much moisture will be lost daily, is 2/10 of an inch or above. Therefore, over the next 7 days, your grass will need about 1.5 inches of water to remain green. Fescue near heated surfaces, like streets, driveways, and sidewalks will dry out the fastest, starting on Friday. Any spots in your lawn that have shallow soil or rocks will also begin to dry out. Try to water thoroughly Wednesday and again Saturday to prepare for the dry down that is coming by this weekend. PLEASE do not continue to apply extra water once the humidity rises up above 70%, as the grass won’t need as much water once it’s hot AND humid.
